Scope of this chapter
This chapter explains the process for dealing with any contacts or referrals in relation to children and young people.

All enquiries (on non-open) cases should go through the Early Help & Safeguarding Hub (EHaSH) using one of the following methods:

EHaSH will screen the enquiry to determine the most appropriate response to the identified needs including:
- Fast tracking child protection concerns or other complex family situations that might require an immediate safeguarding response;
- Early, co-ordinated use of the Early Help Assessment, Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings, Lead Professional role;
- Referring (with consent) on to Children’s Centres, Youth & Family Support and signposting on to other services.
